A certain kind of thinking is obviously not dead in Sparta. We have people who know best for all Sparta citizens and have the clout to force their liberal views into law. You want to keep your right to choose your own garbage disposal method? No, says Manny and the mayor, we will make that decision for you. Trust us. Oh, really? I was standing over a hot stove the other day, stirring soup and thinking about this because on March 11 I get the chance to do something about that. What’s really in this mix, I wonder? It just does not smell right. No, not the soup, the garbage thing. Why can’t they let me decide what’s best for my garbage? That liberal cabal in town hall claims I must give up my rights so every one else benefits. Hold on a minute. Creating another tax-hungry bureaucracy benefits everyone? I thought this was a conservative town, where the government that governs least governs best.
I will vote no, a big, fat, smelly no, to the idea of one-size fits all.
