New Jersey C&D Company Receives Approval to Build C&D Plant

Grinnell Recycling & Container Service, headquartered in Sparta, N.J., recently received approval to build and operate a Materials Recycling Facility at its existing Class B recycling facility. The approval means the company will be allowed to handle a wide range of commingled recyclables generated at construction and demolition sites.

Materials that the company expects to handle include concrete, asphalt, metal, brick, block, sheetrock, old corrugated containers and paper.

Previous to approval the company was only able to handle source separated materials.

Construction of the 25,000-square-foot building, scale house and office buildings is expected to be complete by early this summer, with operations to begin by this coming August. The company will be permitted to handle 400 tons of C&D waste a day.

A spokesman for Grinnell said that the facility will perform all the processing indoors, and will include air pollution control systems.

The company has been attempting to obtain permits to operate the facility for around 10 years.

In addition to performing recycling services Grinnel is engaged in demolition and deconstruction work in the New Jersey area.

I THINK THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTED...

http://www.romingerlegal.com/new_jersey/appellate/a5726-93.opn.html

These minutes go back to Oct of 2006. If I'm reading this right, Sparta would get $.75 per TON on Grinnell's recycling. At 400 tons day, 6 days a week should be $1800--that's $93,600 yearly!

Will our taxes be reduced by this much?

It’s from last June regarding Grinnell. Note esp.11 lines up from the end--about going ahead without the proper zoning...

76 pages of exemptions about 18 in Sparta. Is this where the recycling is going to be? They got a Highlands exemption!

Seems rather odd, that this lake could be so near all this recycling stuff, and be IN both a watershed management area AND the preservation area of the Highlands!
